Technical Support

Tickets are preferred to phone calls except in emergency situations. Why? Because a ticket goes to everyone in I.T., makes a record of your request, and serves as a reminder.

To make a ticket with I.T., simply email support@carrollton-ga.gov

NOTE: When you login for the first time you may be asked to change your password.

You are encouraged to change your password at any city computer connected to the city domain. Log in to the computer, then press Ctrl-Alt-Delete and select Change a Password. Note that this will change both your log-in and your email password.

You cannot use Office365 to change your password.

You can check your city email online by going to outlook.office.com

There are a few reasons you may not be able to login to your email.

  1. Your password is incorrect.
  2. Your MFA may not be working properly. If you are unable to use your Microsoft Authenticator app or you do not receive a text code, please contact us.
  3. If you have upgraded to a new phone, you will need to contact us to reconfigure MFA for you.

If your computer is acting slowly, the most likely culprit is that you have too many browser tabs open. Make sure you do not have more than 10 browser tabs or windows open at the same time, as these use a lot of memory and can quickly make your PC run slower. If you continue to notice slow speeds, reach out to us and we are happy to take a look.

You can call any of us in the case of an emergency.

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a security protocol designed to add an extra layer of protection to digital accounts and systems. It requires users to provide multiple forms of verification before granting access, typically combining something they know (like a password or PIN) with something they have (such as a smartphone or security token) or something they are (biometric data like fingerprints or facial recognition).

MFA is crucial for enhancing security because it significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access, even if a password is compromised. By requiring multiple factors for authentication, MFA makes it much more difficult for attackers to breach accounts through methods like phishing, brute force attacks, or stolen credentials. This added layer of security helps safeguard sensitive data, personal information, and critical systems from being compromised.
